Intermediate Spanish Classes

We offer two Intermediate Spanish courses: Low Intermediate and High Intermediate. Each course is 12 weeks long and designed for adult learners who are ready to move beyond basic communication and build greater fluency. Students are welcome -- and encouraged -- to continue taking classes with us as they advance, moving naturally from one level to the next while strengthening confidence, comprehension, and speaking skills over time.

Placement Guide: Which Intermediate Level Is Right for Me?

Low Intermediate may be a good fit if you:

Can understand and use basic present and past tense structures
Can participate in simple conversations, though you may pause or search for words
Feel ready to speak more Spanish in class but still benefit from occasional English support

High Intermediate may be a good fit if you:

Can participate comfortably in Spanish for most of the class
Can describe past experiences, share opinions, and tell stories
Want to challenge yourself to communicate almost entirely in Spanish

Low Intermediate Spanish

Low Intermediate is ideal for students who are comfortable with basic present and past tense structures and can understand and participate in simple conversations. In this course, students:

Expand their use of present and past tenses
Strengthen listening comprehension of longer spoken Spanish
Increase vocabulary and sentence complexity
Begin participating more regularly in Spanish during class

English support is used strategically as needed, but Spanish becomes the primary language of instruction.

High Intermediate Spanish

High Intermediate is designed for students who can already function comfortably in Spanish and are ready to challenge themselves further. In this level, students:

Refine and expand their use of past, present, and emerging advanced structures
Participate in class almost entirely in the target language
Engage in longer discussions, storytelling, and opinion sharing
Build fluency, accuracy, and confidence in spontaneous speech

By the end of the Intermediate sequence, students are able to sustain meaningful conversation and interact in Spanish with greater ease and independence.
